Death

Uprightendings · transformation · transition · deep change
Reversedresistance to change · stagnation · decay · delayed rebirth

A skeletal knight in polished black armor rides a pale horse across a battlefield, trampling kings and commoners alike. A bishop begs for mercy, while a young child looks up at the rider with innocence and curiosity.

In the far distance, behind the skeletal specter, the sun rises between two towers. This illustrates that death is never a permanent end, but an essential doorway through which all consciousness must pass to be renewed.

Upright

Death is the great equalizer and the herald of rebirth. Upright, it indicates the absolute end of a major phase, relationship, or lifestyle. It is a necessary clearing of the ground so that new life can take root.

Reversed

Reversed, Death warns that you are desperately clinging to a corpse—clinging to a situation that has run its course out of fear of the unknown. This resistance only prolongs the agony of decay and delays your inevitable transformation.
