The Emperor

Uprightauthority · structure · solid foundation · protection
Reversedtyranny · rigidity · inefficiency · powerlessness

Seated on a stone throne carved with ram heads—the symbol of Aries—the Emperor holds an Ankh sceptre of life and an orb of dominion. Unlike his counterpart, his backdrop is barren, mountainous, and rigid.

He represents the archetypal father, the architect of civilization, and the enforcement of boundaries that shield the vulnerable from the storms of chaos.

Upright

The Emperor brings order to the chaos generated by the Empress. Upright, he speaks of authority, law, protective structures, and the establishment of a solid foundation through discipline, logic, and leadership.

Reversed

Reversed, his structural strength hardens into tyranny and unyielding rigidity. It represents a misuse of power, an overbearing figure, or conversely, a complete lack of discipline and failure to control your environment.
