Also known as the Pope or High Priest, he sits between two pillars distinct from those of the High Priestess, holding a triple cross and addressing two acolytes at his feet. He represents exoteric, structured religion and social consensus.

His role is to pass down the keys of the mysteries through established custom, ensuring that sacred rituals are preserved across generations.

Upright

The Hierophant acts as the bridge between the human and the divine within institutional frameworks. Upright, he suggests conforming to established belief systems, pursuing traditional education, or seeking guidance from a spiritual mentor.

Reversed

Reversed, the Hierophant calls for rebellion against outmoded structures. It signifies a breakdown of dogma, a path of unorthodoxy, and the need to question traditional authority to find your own truth.
